Care Team Update and Training Information

2024-1-9 | Kelli Holland

From the beginning, the mission of our ECC Care Team has been to follow Jesus by carrying each other’s burdens and to intentionally care for those who are hurting. We seek to care for others as we listen to their challenges and pain all while asking God to bring comfort, healing, and His abiding Presence. He has been so faithful to us, and we continue to trust Him with this ministry which has been ongoing now for 18 months!

Currently, we have 14 Care Team members serving, and Pastor Stacey provides pastoral support. As of today, we have had 2 training classes and have supported 16 individuals who have been matched one on one with a Care Team member. Many of those relationships continue today. What a privilege!

The ECC Care Team not only supports those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, but most anyone who is struggling. We recognize there are many kinds of losses and even challenging seasons of life that warrant needing extra support. Consider that financial hard times, infertility, a difficult diagnosis, strained family relationships, or divorce are all examples of times you might benefit from having an empathetic person to listen, validate the pain, and pray with you. While we are lay people and know we cannot “fix” problems, our training has equipped us to walk alongside you, listen, and pray.

Please know that you can contact us anytime via the link at ecclife.net/care if you’d like to talk with someone personally. If easier for you, Janet VanBuskirk, Denise Senesac, and I would be happy to take your call or email.

Additionally, we would love to add a few more members to our team, both men and women. If you are interested in being on the Care Team and supporting those who are hurting, we will have a training class again on Saturday, February 17 from 9 am until 3 pm (Lunch included).

Training requires pre-registration by February 11. Once you register online at ecclife.net/cttraining, I can give you more information about what it means to be on the Care Team and what the commitment entails.

As we seek to live out the Kingdom of God by caring for those who are hurting, please know your Care Team is here for you!
